Bible Verses for Still - Hillary Scott and The Scott Family

Still - Hillary Scott and The Scott Family

Recently, a friend shared "Still", a song performed by Hillary Scott and The Scott Family, on Facebook and instantly Bible verses were popping up in my mind. I already loved "Thy Will Be Done" from their album Love Remains which Hillary Scott wrote with Emily Weisband and Bernie Herms after struggling with why she had a miscarriage.   That song touches many as they wrestle with their own trials and circumstances.  Similarly, this song deals with trusting God through difficult times and the unknown.

Still
by Justin Ebach and Molly Reed

Verse 1:
I believe that You are God alone
Psalm 86:10 For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.
But sometimes I still try to take control
Stephen said in Acts 7:51 You men who are stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears are always resisting the Holy Spirit; you are doing just as your fathers did."
Cause I get scared when I can't see the end
Romans 8:24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees?
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
And all You want from me is to let go
Proverbs 3:5-6  Trust in the Lord with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.

Chorus:
You're parting waters

Exodus 14:13-14; 21-22 But Moses said to the people, Do not fear! Stand by and see the salvation of the Lord which He will accomplish for you today; for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you will never see them again forever. The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent. . . . Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord swept the sea back by a strong east wind all night and turned the sea into dry land, so the waters were divided. The sons of Israel went through the midst of the sea on the dry land, and the waters were like a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
Making a way for me
God says in Isaiah 43:19 Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert."
Isaiah 51:10 Was it not You who dried up the sea, The waters of the great deep; Who made the depths of the sea a pathway For the redeemed to cross over
You're moving mountains that I don't even see
Job 9:5 It is God who removes the mountains, they know not how, When He overturns them in His anger;
You've answered my prayer before I even speak
Isaiah 65:24 It will also come to pass that before they call, I will answer; and while they are still speaking, I will hear.
All You need for me to be is still
Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

Verse 2:
I bring my praise before I bring my need

Praise comes first when Jesus taught his disiples to pray in Luke 11:2-4 And He said to them, When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us'.
Cause there's no fear You've not already seen
About God in Hebrews 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Psalm 56:8 You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?
Psalm 34:4 I sought the Lord, and He answered me, And delivered me from all my fears.
I rest my heart on all Your promises
About God in 2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
Hebrews 11:20-21 yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform
Cause I have seen and know Your faithfulness

Joshua 21:45 Not one of the good promises which the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed; all came to pass.
Psalm 37:5 Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, and He will do it
Psalm 98:3 He has remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God

Lord Jesus, We Remember

Lord Jesus, We Remember
by James G. Deck

Verse 1:
Lord Jesus, we remember

The travail of Thy soul,
About Jesus in 1 Corinthians 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me.
When, through Thy love's deep pity,
The waves did o'er Thee roll;
Psalms 42:7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
Baptized in death's dark waters,
For us Thy blood was shed;
Jesus said in Luke 12:50 "But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!"
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.
For us Thou, Lord of glory,
Wast numbered with the dead.
1 Corinthians 2:8 the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they had understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
About the Messiah in Isaiah 53:12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.

Verse 2:
O Lord! Thou now art risen,
Thy travail all is o'er;
1 Corinthians 15:20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.
John 19:30 Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, It is finished! And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.
For sin Thou once hast suffered,
Thou liv'st to die no more;
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
Romans 6:9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him.
Sin, death, and hell are vanquished
By Thee, the church's Head;
Revelation 1:17-18 When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.
Hebrews 9:26 Otherwise, He would have needed to suffer often since the foundation of the world; but now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself
Colossians 1:18 He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything.
And lo! we share Thy triumphs,
Thou First-born from the dead.
1 Corinthians 15:57 but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and released us from our sins by His blood

Verse 3:
Unto Thy death baptized,
We own with Thee we died:
Romans 6:3-4 Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?  Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
Colossians 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
With Thee, our Life, we're risen,
And shall be glorified.
Ephesians 2:4-6 But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
Colossians 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him
Romans 8:30 and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified
From sin, the world, and Satan,
We're ransomed by Thy blood,
Titus 2:14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
Hebrews 2:14 Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,
1 Peter 1:18-19 knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
And here would walk as strangers,
Alive with Thee to God.
Hebrews 11:13 All these died in faith, without receiving the promises, but having seen them and having welcomed them from a distance, and having confessed that they were strangers and exiles on the earth.
Philippians 3:20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;
Romans 6:11 Even so consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus
