Hippity Hoppity Number Line Activities

Spring will be here before you know it, so I wanted to create something with a little bit of Spring feeling (as I cannot wait for the Spring time weather). In addition to something Spring-like, I wanted to create a LARGE number line that can be used as a floor center activity. With this set, students would work with the number line to get familiar with addition, subtraction, counting on, etc. by manipulating the bunny (hopping him left and right on the number line). Hope this small group or center activity is useful for you! Click on the image below to grab yourself a copy!

This Hippity Hoppity Easter Bunny LARGE number line can be used during small group time or as an individual/group center activity.

This set works on the following skills:

* Counting 0-10 or 0-20 or 0-30
* Skip Counting by 2s
* Missing Number on Number Line
* Adding and Subtracting with Number Line
* Counting on from given number
* One More/One Less
* Ten More/Ten Less

The set includes the following materials:

Something New Sunday...

Do your students need work with understanding the various representations of quantities? Here is a Kindergarten math center activity that will assist children with the concept of number and quantity.

When I taught Kindergarten, we learned so much about number sense through our Number Talks. In addition to those in depth conversations, students need constant practice and exposure to quantities. They need the foundation and understanding that a quantity can look different, yet be the same amount.

This center activity will give students practice with looking at quantities in different formats. Grab a copy in my TpT store by clicking the image below. Thank you in advance for supporting our classroom with your purchase!

Mega Math Set ~ Counting Sheep

Spent a couple days here and there on this new set.

It is so important to build a strong foundation in number sense using manipulatives. Here are some sheets that can be used in guiding students with the understanding of numbers. I HIGHLY recommend using some type of counter with this set (or even make several copies of the sheep provided in the set) so children can manipulate with numbers and quantities.

This is a large set that covers the following Kindergarten mathematics areas:

ALL Kindergarten standards in these categories...

* COUNTING AND CARDINALITY
* OPERATIONS AND ALGEBRAIC THINKING
* NUMBERS AND OPERATIONS IN BASE TEN

The theme is a Counting Sheep theme.

Some of the activities include:
* Counting by 1s and 10s to 100
* Counting on from given number
* Writing numerals to match sets
* Counting and writing numeral for various quantities
* Drawing an amount of objects to match numeral
* Count and dot with bingo dauber
* Roll it, Count it, Draw it
* Subitizing
* How many +1
* Greater than, Less than, Equal to
* Comparing Numerals
* Addition/Subtraction with 10 Frames

Formative Assessment - Before you go, "tweet" what you know...

I am loving 5th grade, the curriculum and the conversations I have with the students about learning! Although I have been extremely busy teaching and learning the new curriculum, I wanted to share what my professional development goal is this year: use more of Marazano's Nine in my classroom. I have found a ton of resources online (mostly digital tools) that can enhance and engage student learning. Of course one way to assesses the knowledge of my students it to conduct frequent, on-going formative assessments, which drives my instruction. Differentiating for our students is critical, so I must know what they know and do not know and adjust accordingly.

Although I always formatively assess, I would like something tangible from time to time to show parents. There are a ton of formative assessment techniques out there, but this week I want to focus on Exit Tickets. I have asked higher-order questions at the end of lessons to check for understanding or have given a sample skill for students to perform, but I want to know what they are thinking as well - to see if they know whether or not they get it! Here is a little exit ticket I will be using this week: I tried to incorporate hash tags and twitter.

You can get these here!
