Life, Life of Love Poured Out

These beautiful words by F. Allaben certainly show us the reason we worship our Lord and Saviour.  I am familiar with this song from the hymnal, Hymns of Grace and Truth, which includes many of his writings. I am sure you will see more of his hymns here.  Amazingly, I found updated music for this mostly unknown hymn which can be found by clicking here. The old music can be found by clicking here.  I am always thrilled when current musicians update the music of these precious older hymns (not because I don't also love the old music, but because it brings the words to people who would not have heard them otherwise).

Life, Life of Loved Poured Out, Fragrant and Holy

by F. Allaben

Life, life of Love poured out, fragrant and holy!
Of Jesus in Psalm 22:14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me.
Of Jesus in Mark 14:24 And He said to them, "This is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many."
Life, mid rude thorns of earth, stainless and sweet!
Of Jesus in John 19:2 And the soldiers twisted together a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and put a purple robe on Him
Life, whence Gods face of love, glorious, but lowly,
John 17:1 Jesus spoke these things; and lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, "Father, the hour has come; glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You,"
Jesus says in Matthew 11:29 "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls."
Shines forth to bow us, Lord, low at Thy feet!
Of Jesus Revelation 1:16-17 In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword; and His face was like the sun shining in its strength. When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man. And He placed His right hand on me, saying, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last,"

Grief, grief of Love, that drew hates every arrow!
Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face. He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Grief, that Thy suffering heart only could meet.
Hebrews 2:9 But we do see Him who was made for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone.
Grief, whence Thy face of love, shining in sorrow,
Isaiah 53:10 But the LORD was pleased To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring, He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the LORD will prosper in His hand.
Draws us, adoring, Lord, low at Thy feet!
Of Jesus in Revelation 4:9-11 And when the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, to Him who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders will fall down before Him who sits on the throne, and will worship Him who lives forever and ever, and will cast their crowns before the throne, saying, "Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created."

Death, death of stricken Love, wraths sea exploring!
Of Jesus in Psalm 88:7 Your wrath has rested upon me, And You have afflicted me with all Your waves. Selah.
Death, Lifes mysterious death  deep meeting deep;
Of Jesus in Psalm 42:7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls; All Your breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
Death, whence Thy bursting heart fills ours, outpouring
Of Jesus in Psalm 69:20 Reproach has broken my heart and I am so sick. And I looked for sympathy, but there was none, And for comforters, but I found none.
All, all, in worship, Lord, low at Thy feet!
Revelation 5:8-10 When He had taken the book, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth."

Do you have any verses that you'd like to add?  I'd love to hear about them.  Just add them in the comments below.

Also, I'd also love to hear any suggestions for another hymn or worship song to study.
