The good and the bad.......

I'm glad the emailing pics to your blog posts has helped some of you girls...........

Also I know we are all busy so I thank those who take the time to visit and comment on my blog.........

bad - the sheep chasing me for food............need to start feeding...AGAIN.....

good - the churn dash rows are coming together..........

Changes......

We had so much trouble with the windmill the last year and with no rain we had massive water issues...........

when you live where we live no ground water = no sheep and cows = no farm income.........

We bit the bullet so to speak and pulled up the windmill pipes and installed solar panels and new pump..........we always have sun and it will pump anytime during the day water levels start to drop in the tanks..........wind at times is unreliable here......we can get by when we have water in the dams but when that  is gone and we need to water many more paddocks on the farm then we could not get enough water...........and the bonus is I a have a little extra water for my garden..........the windmill stand will stay there absolutely useless but I love seeing a windmill...........

out with the old in with the new..........

today I did my 10 mins on the machine and then cut some more "Edwardsia" blocks.........then it was far to hot in the Chookshed even with the air con on so we moved back inside to continue and the much better air con...........

And my friend Kylie @ Indigo and Quince was visiting for the night and she remembered this trip to bring her EPP........she had it packed last time and left it all on the bench at home..........

BUT this is a girl who was NOT i repeat NOT going to get into EPP..............but she keeps visiting and slowly I have turned her into a fan..........and she has started a second EPP quilt.......she found this one in the USA I think and I just can't remember the name at the minute but it is lovely.........and she is very addicted........she was never going to make an EPP quilt let alone in browns...........HHHEEEE guess I won............

She has to make 12 blocks and I saw two and i'm loving it also.........

it's a stinker here today so nice to be hanging out inside in the air con watching the winter olympics..........go Aussies...........

Another wall of dust.....

And you wonder why someone turns to the drink........ its not good when the neighbours trees disappear to a brown wall..........

Yet another dust storm to clean up from....

the last one was less the two weeks ago.......

Boxing Day dust storm.....

Boxing Day .............hhhmmmm..........I'd been keeping an eye out to the south as a storm was down that way............

Lightning had been going down so was keeping an eye out for fires.............

"smoke" had gone up a few times then disappeared.............

we were watching this develop and to start thought it was "smoke" but then the red came into it and we knew it was dusting picking up from winds in the storm..........phone calls to another fire brigade captain revealed they were in the thick of a storm and during another call them I could hear the hail hitting............

at this point the light went really dark and weird colours the dust was so thick.............

thought it was all over but started blowing from the left of the photo but nothing like what had been blowing................
Boxing Day involved cleaning after this.............thankfully I remembered the 5 loads of washing on the clothes line before it hit..........

No more sheep bogged in dams

Remember my post last weekend.............

The next day we had 7 stuck in the dam............yes sheep are dumb........one walks in others follow..........

this time I didn't need to go into the dam.........I had help...........

they were a bit deeper in then me............and they were still not touching the bottom...........shame we didn't get the desilting finished.............

Problem solved this weekend.............

no sheep will get bogged this summer thank goodness...........

Christmas come early..............

Christmas has come early on the farm.............

best present ever......59mms of rain......dams all full........

now to watch the grass grow...........

lets hope we can stop feeding the sheep and cows for Christmas.........

The end of Ag week..............

Why I don't want to be a farmer...........

when Mr Chooky is away everything happens...........

A quick check of the dam yesterday morning revealed this bogged sheep........

See how far that sheep got into the dam......

I drove over to the bore and the cows that buggered the water trough............

And emptied the whole tank.........I could not fix it but I could stop the water running out.........

Drove back to the house and grabbed Boy Wonder (who is out of action at the moment) I could picture myself slipping head over heals in the dam and I took him to drive me back to the house muddy...........

It was cool and wet and slimmy and I nearly fell a few times but managed to stay on my feet......I did manage to drag the sheep out........when wet they are so heavy and they get stuck into the mud too..........it is not easy at all.........

getting out of the dam was interesting..........my feet kept sliding back down.............But i made it out and got a lift home on the back of the ute.........hosed off on the lawn........

Running late for work with all these problems I was rewarded with pretty wispy skies...........even better in real life............

National Agriculture Day................

It's an important day......National Ag Day....we all rely on Agriculture to exist............
there are many different areas..............

I'm at least a 4th generation farmer...........
yes every generation back to my great grandparents.............
on one side I think I am at least 5th or is it 6th generation.........
my kids are planing to be in the agriculture industry..........

I feel like this is you my readers peering into my world through the blog........

leaving comments or just stalking...........

but this is my part of the AG world that I get to share with you............
