All throughout December, you hear Christians talking about the reason for the season. Most of our society would say the reason for Christmas is to spread love. Most Christians would say it is to celebrate Jesus' birth. But why? Why was Jesus born? Why did He come to earth? What was His purpose?

There are actually quite a few Bible verses about why Jesus came:
Matthew 5:17 �Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill.�
Mark 1:38 He said to them, �Let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also; for that is what I came for.�
Mark 2:17 And hearing this, Jesus said to them, �It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.�
Mark 10:45 �For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.�
John 3:16 �For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.�
John 3:17 �For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.�
John 6:38 �For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.�

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, so that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.
1 Timothy 1:15 It is a trustworthy statement, deserving full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, among whom I am foremost of all.

1 John 3:8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 4:10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
